H1/16 Goals Review and H2 Outlook

Wow! I cannot believe that half a year is gone already! It seems like only hours ago when I wrote down my goals for 2016. Now, looking back on six months, I see a lot of accomplishments and only a few goals for 2016 left.

Let's take a step back and look at the goals written down in January:

- Showing third level
- Participating in the Regional Haflinger Championships
- Participate in the ALPE ADRIA DRESSAGE TROPHY
- Be placed in the Dressurtour series
- Be part of the Carinthian Team Championships

Where are we now? Actually, once again, above and beyond our goals! It seems that next year we need to set some higher goals as we again reached most of our goals already in H1.

- Showing third level
Been there, done that! And what a premiere it was! We even scored twice (out of 3) above 62% meaning: we are on a good way to reach the six necessary scores at 3rd level for the very last license that we have in Austria (aka we then could enter forth level officially)
- Participating in the Regional Haflinger Championships
Check! As the show report is still missing, let me just say: ok, we came in forth (of 4), but all the others had much more experience at third level than we had...so that is okay.
- Participate in the ALPE ADRIA DRESSAGE TROPHY
Somehow, we can never make it! Last year, we missed the final qualification, this year, the whole trophy is being shaken by EHV-1 virus and thus, no show in Lipica. I do not even know whether they will keep the trophy going, so not a big miss here.
- Be placed in the Dressurtour series
That one would have been the only goal for this year that I would have said we would not reach. With the current standings, we would be placed. The show season is only midway so we will see where we end up in October.
- Be part of the Carinthian Team Championships
Unfortunately, I already know that we won't take part in these. Why? Because we will rather ride 3rd level tests at this show - I would say, that is a good excuse that we will not meet this goal.

For the rest of the year, there is not much left. Three shows to go, maximum four depending on whether we still need some scores or not by October. Other than that, we keep up the good work that led us to meeting so many goals in H1 already. Of course, with scores around 62% there is plenty of room for improvement, especially the canter half passes were very week. The next two shows will take place in two consecutive weekends starting first weekend of August. The third and last show will take place beginning of October. At least, there are some chances left to have four more scores above 62%. Reaching that would be such a huge achievement - all focus on these 62% now!

I'm looking forward to the future, and feeling grateful for the past. Mike Rowe
